Yesterday my brother and I went to the lake, we made sure to launch away from everyone. Upon arriving all we see are coucher`s (people who ride sit down jetskis) breaking the law and driving crazy! (Going 20+mph within 10ft of shore, pulling people w/no spotter and turned around constantly, etc.)
We figure launching in the sand and rocks would be relatively safe from having people launch near us due to the vehicle required to launch there… oh no we were wrong. After less than 2 minutes of being there some )(%*@(%)@ comes within 2ft to launch his jet ski in the sand next to us! At the time I figured no problem another guy wanting to get away from the crowds he”ll be cool.
Fast forward to the end of the day when we are heading back in (we went and road across the lake to escape). We are about 500tft off shore crusing in slow when we see the guy on the couch doing donuts in the little cove we launched in (100ft wide or less) we were both shocked and decided to go way far to our left and then parralel the shore to make sure we could get back without this idiot hitting us. As we come closer we realize he’s trying to spray his friend on the beach, 10 seconds later he gets to close to shore hits it, spins out, and 3/4 of the ski is now on the sand and the guy is about 5ft away from their trailer! Lucky he didn’t hit it hard enough to throw himself off and smack himself into their trailer! Oh, and all the while his friend (who owns it) just sits there and laughs.
People who ride stand-ups aren’t idiots and morons! It takes skill to ride a stand up! Unfortunately everyone can ride a sit down jet ski and drive like a moron. I would say about 90% of the people who ride sit downs are morons, get to close, and just overall don’t have an understanding of the water and laws.

hey just bought a 2008 superjet and came across your site browsing as you do! and i get the impression that you are a very experianced rider! im having trouble staying up on my ski although a spent most ov my time on my knees! but every time i stand up its not long b4 im off. was just wondering if u would be able 2 give me any tips on balance standing…? all the best andy.

Takes practice. Keep riding and move your feet around to find that comfortable spot. Also bent your knees a bit, don’t ride all stiff…know what I mean?

i do agree the new couchs are majorally driven by idiot rich people ( price of a new seadoo proves my point ) and i see this kinda stuff all the time at my like, careless couch riders. i do own a couch, as finding a decent super jet in BC canada proved to be tough. plus i wanted my girlfriend to be able to ride it too.
