Like many others who get a new toy that has an engine I too wanted to know which oil was best to run in my new superjet.
I started reading on forums and searching google to find the best oil for the yamaha but I was getting a lot of different answers. Like many things in life there are TONS of choices and many people think their choice is the best.
Not only is it hard to narrow it down on what brand oil it’s hard to believe who is the best because every manufacture says theirs is the best and Yamaha firmly suggests their own branded oil called YamaLube. Well, like any other branded oil it’s almost $50 per-gallon!! *gasp*. We know Yamaha doesn’t make their own oil so it can’t be “SUPER SPECIAL” oil.
Here’s the list i’ve put together of acceptable oils to run in your Yamaha SuperJet engine.
The list is in no particular order, and probably isn’t EVERY possible solution.
- Redline PWC Oil
- Amsoil Dominator (Suggested for race engines or engines that get torn down regularly)
- Amsoil HP Injector
- Klotz R50
- Maxima Super M
Personally, I use Amsoil HP Injector because I trust amsoil as I have with my other vehicles and they make some great products for a great price.
What it comes down to is how much you want to spend and trust… any TC-W3 certified/rated oil is what the SuperJet Engine calls for so that should be fine, and this even includes the $5 or $10 a gallon stuff you can get at Wal-Mart (SuperTech, Penzoil, etc.) A lot of people think the YamaLube is just a rebranded Penzoil type oil so FWIW you can go with a Full Synthetic like the Redline, Amsoil, etc or non/semi like the Penzoil, and superTech.
In the end YOU need to decide what you want and how much to spend on your oil.
Amsoil HP Injector runs around $20/gallon with the amsoil preferred customer thing.
Here’s a picture of my 5 gallons of HP Injector.
$100 for 5 Gallons of awesome oil or $100 for 2 gallons of Yama-Lube, you decide.
